Remedies to stop hair loss and baldness This might be correct to certain extent, but the main cause of hair loss is the excessive increase of DHT.

Hair Loss Remedies

Loss of hair is the most common problem and matter of concern presently.

It is a problem for many people irrespective of their age. Some feel that their food and other habits are responsible for the hair loss.

This might be correct to certain extent, but the main cause of hair loss is the excessive increase of DHT.

DHT is found in the prostrate and the adrenal glands, which are present in the hair follicles. Hair loss takes place due to the production of DHT.

The presence of excessive DHT is seen mainly in males. DHT is responsible for improper hormonal changes and causes baldness. However, the effect of DHT differs from person to person.

Most of the anti-hair loss treatments primarily focus on reducing the quantity of DHT in the hair follicles.

If you take care of your hair by regularly giving a wash and applying the nutriments that enable better hair growth, the growth of DHT can be controlled and thus, there can be re-growth of hair.

There are many cosmetic companies today that have come up with different anti hair fall supplements and oils, which are effective in reducing the count of DHT and nourishing the hair follicles without any side effects.

Prior to using such medicines, it is suggested that you consult a doctor, who may advice you on the method of treatment and the medicines to be taken.

This way, you can be safer and are insured of getting good quality hair.

There is a specific way by which DHT is produced in the body. It is produced when 5-alpha-reductase- enzymes interact with the testosterone on the scalp.

In simple words, the testosterone is converted into DHT due to this reaction. Hence, the increase of this reaction boosts the presence of DHT and amplifies the hair loss.

DHT Causes Hair Loss

If you have hair loss problem and do want to go bald, then it is essential for you to quickly consult your doctor.

There are many reasons for hair loss. Sometimes, due to hormonal changes, both men and women tend to lose hair.

Or else, lack of nutritious diet is also responsible for this problem. Therefore, it is important to maintain healthy lifestyle, so that you can fight back this problem.

Nowadays, there are many products available in the market claiming to prevent baldness by restoring hair growth.

However, according to the experts the main problem for hair loss is DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). This is also a byproduct of testosterone.

The main reason for hair loss is the enzyme present in the scalp. When enzymes interact with testosterone, it ultimately leads to huge amount of hair loss. However, in males, this problem is common.

Therefore, it is important to intake all the essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamins and minerals in balanced amount, so that when DHT reaches your hair follicles, it does not affect your hair.

In fact, due to DHT, your hair follicles get finer and smaller.

DHT produces wax like structure near hair root and follicles, which ultimately causes your hair to break. Thus, it is essential to cure this problem as soon as possible, so that you can prevent baldness.

In both men and women, production of DHT is the main reason for hair loss.

In fact, there are many medications available in the market for preventing hair loss.

Hence, it depends on you which one you choose. Moreover, if you maintain your diet properly, then you can also prevent this problem.

Performing workouts along with a balanced diet can surely keep you away from this problem. Thus, it is important to treat this issue, so that you do not suffer from baldness.

DHT Blockers for Preventing Hair Loss

As there are many DHT blockers available in the market, efficient ones are the natural DHT blockers.

DHT or dihydrotestosterone is produced due to interaction of enzymes with testosterone. Due to this, the blood supply to hair follicles decreases, as a result the growth of hair gets affected.

However, some DHT blockers in the market are associated with harmful side effects and thus, it is essential to choose the right DHT blocker that suits your hair and body.

Some DHT blockers are prepared from zinc, which is effective in increasing the production of testosterones in your body.

This inhibitor is also useful for treating various health disorders. Besides, you can consume dietary supplements for preventing hair loss.

These supplements are prepared from the extracts of saw palmetto berry.

This ingredient is very effective in hair growth. Maintaining a balanced diet along with dietary supplement can really make your hair stronger.

It is essential to intake vital nutrients such as proteins, vitamins and calcium in a balanced amount, if you want to stay free from any health disorders.

There are several DHT blockers available in the market and thus, it is essential to choose the right one, so that you can cure your infected area properly. However, the genuine DHT blockers are prepared from natural ingredients, so the chances of side effects are less.

Today, both women as well as men are suffering from hair loss due to excessive DHT production.

Thus, educating them on various methods available for treating DHT is essential. With proper information on dihydrotestosterone, you can easily cure this disorder during its early stages.

Treating this disorder in its initial stage can surely prevent hair loss. Hence, it is essential to consult your doctor before buying any DHT blocker and knowing its ingredients.

DHT is the main cause of hair loss in both male as well as female. The supplements that have the ability to block the production of DHT are on great demand in order to reduce the thinning of hair.

DHT Blockers and Hair Loss

DHT is the main cause of hair loss in both men and women. DHT is not gender specific.

DHT blocking supplements that have the ability to block the production of DHT are essential in order to reduce the thinning of hair.

You must make sure that the treatments or the supplements that you are planning to purchase are effective for preventing the growth of DHT, which causes hair loss and results in baldness.

The production of DHT gradually reduces the quantity of the hair follicle and the shedding of hair goes up excessively. This is where the DHT blockers are applied as a remedy to the hair loss problem.

Initially, it is important to understand about DHT, it is a substance, which is responsible to baldness, as it changes the hormone levels in the body.

Prevention of contact between the hair follicles and the present DHT will enable to reduce the problem.

The hair follicles on the scalp are damaged, as they are exposed to DHT and this leads to the increase in quantity of DHT, as the healthy hair follicles cells are converted into the DHT.

Preventing DHT is possible by applying products, which are manufactured for the problem of hair loss.

There are many products available, but some of them are prepared with natural ingredients such as herb extracts and variety of minerals that enable hair re-growth by improving the quality of hair follicles and scalp cells.

These contents prevent the production of excessive DHT by reducing the conversion of hair follicles into DHT.

Various DHT blockers are available in the market today, but it is essential to conduct a proper research in order to have information about the products before using them.

DHT blockers come in the form of topical creams as well as pills and both of them are equally effective.

DHT and Hair Loss

DHT or Dihydrotestosterone is responsible for hair loss in both male as well as female.

DHT is the resultant of the direct contact between the testosterone and enzyme 5- alpha-reductase found in the skin of the scalp.

Hair loss due to DHT is sourced by the DHT binding to the damaged portions of the scalp and the hair follicles that interact with the normal functioning of the hair scalp involved in healthy hair growth.

In other words, DHT causes hair loss, when it covers the damaged hair cells and causes more damage to them, affecting the hair growth process.

DHT affects the cells responsible for the hair growth and the decrease in these cells brings down the hair growth and results in hair loss.

The process of hair loss differs in both the genders, in the case of men, the hair loss starts at a slow rate from the mid portion of the scalp, the loss of hair increases to the crown, which is the area above forehead and spreads to other parts of the scalp.

The sweat glands enable the transportation of DHT all over the scalp.

Hair loss process, in case of females is slower than men. The hair lost is much less and slow, but the loss is witnessed on a scattered basis.

In fact, the hair loss takes place from all parts of the scalp at the same time and with the passing time, the quantity increases.

The presence of DHT on the hair scalp should be reduced to minimum in order to bring down the hair loss and enrich the hair follicles and the hair growing cells.

This can be possible by using various nutritional supplements, which are available in the market to stop or reduce hair loss for both men and women.

What is Male Hair Loss?

Male hair loss, correct name Androgenic Alopecia otherwise known as male pattern baldness, is caused by the male hormones, called androgens, having an effect on the hair follicles.

This is often genetically linked, men suffering with genetically linked hairloss often have problems where the male hormone testosterone is converted into DHT (‘Dihydrotestosterone’) by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase.

It is the DHT that damages the follicles, inhibits the growth of new hair cells, leading to hairloss and in extreme cases eventual baldness.

Male hair loss is often confined just to the area at the top of the head leaving hair only at the sides and back of their heads.

Why these hair follicles are left completely unaffected by male hair loss and the hairs on the top of the head are sensitive to DHT is actually a mystery that confounds even the most experienced tricologists

Male Hair Loss Stages

Male hair loss often follows a set pattern and stages as shown above

What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia Areata can affect 1 in a thousand of us at any time in our lives. There is no known cause for this distressing condition, although it is considered to be an autoimmune disorder.

Alopecia Areata causes sudden hair loss, usually starting in patches, the follicles prematurely enter the resting phase (Telogen) and this occurs very rapidly. In severe, but rare cases, the hair loss can become widespread leading to rapid hair loss. This is known as Alopecia Totalis or Alopecia Universalis.

This could have a connection to anxiety, sudden shock, in fact any major stress factor in your life.

These are some possible triggers for Alopecia Areata

There are certain factors that can bring on the start of Alopecia Areata, these include:

1. Psychological long-term chronic stress

2. Shock and sudden extreme stress

3. Physical trauma

4. Local skin injury

5. Genetic predisposition

6. Viral/bacterial infection

7. Pregnancy/hormones

8. Allergies

9. Chemicals

10. Seasonal changes

Psychological Long-Term Chronic Stress

Many reports suggest that stress is an important factor in causing Alopecia Areata.however, this had been the cause for some disagreement between many experts This suggestion is actually based on correlated evidence and not on hard fact, it is generally believed that while stress may be a trigger for alopecia, is not usually the root cause.

Shock, or Sudden Extreme Stress

Here have been documented cases of Alopecia Areata developing following on from severe or sudden stress such as a sudden bereavement or accident

Physical Trauma

There is quite a bit of evidence to demonstrate that physical trauma can trigger the onset of Alopecia Areata. Anything that effects the immune system can be a trigger that will bring on Alopecia Areata, this can range from being hit on the head to an infection.

Localised Skin Injury

People susceptible to Alopecia can often develop patches of hair loss, following injury, cuts or scratches to the head. This said, there has been cases of temporary hair re-growth after an injury. Injury can bring on the anagen or growing stage in people wh are predisposed to alopecia

Genetic Predisposition

It is generally thought that being susceptible to Alopecia Areata is polygenic – there are certain genes that if present for any reason make that individual more likely to develop Alopecia Areata. Triggers for Alopecia Areata actually coming on are usually caused by environmental reasons but susceptibility to development of Alopecia Areata, the resistance of the Alopecia Areata lesion to treatment, and its persistence and regression and its extent over the body might be influenced by the presence and interaction of several genes.

Viral/Bacterial Infection

An infection of the hair follicles called Cytomegalovirus has been attributed to causing alopecia areata, but tricologists suggest that there are several infections both viral and bacterial that can harm the hair follicles in susceptible people

Pregnancy/Hormones

It has been determined that changes in hormones can cause Hair loss, Most notable are the cases of Alopecia onset during late stage pregnancy. Women who are prone to Alopecia Areata often find that they have complete hair regrowth around the time of childbirth regretfully this can only be temporary. Puberty and menopause are also linked to times of potential Alopecia Areata onset or remission.

Allergies

People with other allergies or conditions often sparked by allergy such as asthma, eczema and even rhinitis can be more inclined to hair loss. He interesting thing with this fact is that it is mainly Caucasian women who suffer this way. It is believed that different races have varying genetic composition which could explain this fact.

Chemicals

Exposure to certain chemicals and drugs have been attributed to bringing on Alopecia Areatra, the chemicals acrylamide, formaldehyde and other pesticides have been linked to outbreaks. Mediactions such as Zidovudine (for HIV) and Fluvoaximin (depression) have also been linked

Seasonal Changes

Many people suffering with Alopecia Areata find that the levels of their hair loss moves in time with the seasons. Some sufferers find the hair loss is at its worst in winter and in fact get temporary, sometimes partial re-growth in the spring and summer.

Whatever the reason for its onset, it doesn’t have to be long lasting, if the cause can be determined, actions can usually be taken to redress the problem and halt the hairloss

What Causes Hair Loss in Women

It is quite common to lose between 40 and 150 strands of hair a day, this is mainly from mostly from brushing and washing. It is a totally natural process and is 100% normal despite the fact that it may look like a large amount of hair is being lost. The normal course of nature makes room for new hair growth and this process is regularly repeated all through our lives. It is if you ever notice hair shedding in clumps or if large thinning areas start to appear that there is usually a problem that needs to be investigated.

What Causes Hair Loss in Women

Diet - Vitamin deficiency, possible caused through a lack of protein can be a reason, ensuring that you are eating a well balance diet will certainly help to keep your hair healthy. Check with your doctor to make sure that you are not anaemic (which is another possible cause of hair loss).

The Menopause -When we go through the hormonal changes in our bodies during this time, hair loss is sometimes a perticularly unwelcome part of it and occasionally for some women the hair loss can be permanent.

Colouring and Frequent Washing -

Regular hair washing is commonplace as is adding colour to our hair. Shampoo and colouring products contain many ingredients including a lathering ingredient called surfactant. This is known to irritate the scalp causing a drying effect which in turn can cause itching and irritate the scalp possible causing more hair loss. Regular use of bleach when colouring will also have an adverse effect on your scalpputting your hair under attack once again.

Stress and Physiological Stress – Undergoing major surgery, pregnancy or a serious life changing event can cause hair loss as can bereavement or divorce. Quite often in these cases the hair growth will return. Hair loss can also be a genetic link either inherited from either or both sides of the family tree.

Hair Loss can also be down to the onset of certain medical conditions. these can include – Diabetes, Lupus and Thyroid problems.

Alopecia Areata is autoimmune condition easily recognised by the appearance of large circular patches of baldness. When it occurs, the immune system for many reasons attacks the hair follicles and the stress from discovering these patches causes even more hair loss. This makes fora distressing and sometime difficult to break cycle for the sufferer. Naturally, your first course of action should be to visit your doctor. Sometimes a course of Cortisone injections is one of the treatments that your Doctor may offer you. The key to remember is that modern research is moving forward to try and stop the causes of hair loss in women.

A good head of hair is rightly considered to be a woman’s crowning glory and with this in mind there are some effective treaments and products available which have been proven to be highly effective.

Which Hair Loss Myths Are True or False

There are many rumours and tales about hair loss and why it happens, quite a few are simply myths, here are some of the more common ones:

‘Its your mothers side of the family that determines wether you are going to lose your hair - Its genetic’

Hereditary hair loss can actually be passed on by either parent, it is totally true that the maternal side has the strongest influence but not in all cases. It is quite probable that if hair loss tends to be present throughout the family that you will be effected by it as well.

‘Frequent washing of your hair will make you go bald’

This is totally False , frequent shampooing has no effect, either positive or negative, on hereditary hair loss.

‘‘Taking natural supplements can stop hair loss’

For the majority of people, losing hair is a genetic problem caused by the way your hair follicles respond to certain hormones. Severe malnutrition can also cause hair loss, but this is not linked to hereditary hair loss. Taking the correct supplements can help

‘If I colour my hair it will fall out faster.’

Using hair colouring products can be hard on your hair and scalp, bleaching and colouring chemicals especially strong ones may cause hair to break off, but again they are not responsible for hereditary hair loss

‘An average loss of between 40-100 hairs a day is quite normal – they usually just grow back again.’

This is true for most people,as they grow, new hairs push the older ones out, but those who suffer from HHL lose hairs from weak follicles that have deteriorated or are shrinking, these will increasingly produce hairs that are thinner and weaker and will eventually stop producing hairs at all.

‘Can I grow more hair follicles by using drugs’

No, the amount of hair follicles on your scalp is predetermined by genetics, nothing that you can do will change this.

‘Cutting hair makes it grows back thicker and quicker’

False!.. hair usually grows around half inch per month, each hair is actually thicker at the bottom than at the tip, this is why our hair appears thicker just after a hair cut. The fact is that cutting our hair will not actually make it thicker or grow back any quicker.

‘Using a hair drier or heated tongs and straighteners can make my hair fall out’

Not totally true, but extremely high heat from driers and straightening tongs could well damage hairs and make them fall out. If you are suffering from Hereditary Hair Loss, as they grow back, the new hairs could well be thinner.

‘Men who are bald are sexier.’

Would be nice to believe this, but there is actually no shred of any clinical evidence to show or prove that bald men have higher levels of testosterone or any related hormones that could increase their sex appeal or virility

How Your Hair Grows

Normal hair growth occurs in three cycles, these are called Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. Every hair that we grow passes through these three stages.

Every one is a totally different stage of activity

First Phase -Anagen

The growing stage, the Anagen phase should usually last for about 1000 days, this can vary though and there have been cases of it lasting for 6 years. It is during this stage that the hair cells quickly multiply, during this process the hair grows in both length and diameter to its maximum length

Second Phase -Catagen

The Second Growing Phase or ‘Catagen’ is also called the transitional phase, usually lasting one to two weeks, this is the period when the hair actually stops growing before entering the final stage.

Third Phase -Telogen

The Telogen stage is the last or the ‘off stage’, lasting up to 6 weeks, this is when the hair literally remains static or stays dormant. After about 6 weeks this phase comes to its end and new hair starts growing again in the Anagen phase which forces the old hair out

At any given time, at least 85 – 90% of all the hair on your head is in the Anegan or growing stage with the rest usually split between the transitional and resting stage.

Baldness

In the cases of Common baldness, Male pattern baldness or Hereditary hair loss , the body’s genes and hormones effect the follicles and cause them to shrink. This shortens the growing stage and lengthens the final resting or Telogen phase. because of this the hairs become become short and thinner. They will gradually deteriorate until they are no longer visible to the naked eye and the hair follicles eventually close and shut down totally!
